Stretch film is widely used in the packaging industry, especially in protecting products from external environmental factors. Moisture and water damage is a major problem faced by many products during storage and transportation. Whether it is electronic products, food, medicine, or industrial raw materials, the penetration of moisture and water may cause product damage or performance degradation. Therefore, it is crucial to use packaging materials with moisture-proof functions. Due to its unique physical properties, stretch film can effectively resist the intrusion of moisture and water, thereby protecting the integrity and quality of packaged items.
Stretch film is made of plastic materials such as polyethylene and has strong sealing and water resistance. Its tight structure can prevent water vapor and moisture in the air from entering the interior of the package to a certain extent. When packaging items, the stretch film is stretched and wrapped to form a tight covering layer that can wrap the product and form a protective barrier. This closed packaging method effectively isolates external moisture, making the product less susceptible to changes in humidity. Especially during transportation and storage, this feature of stretch film is particularly important, because items exposed to a humid environment for a long time are prone to corrosion, mildew or performance degradation.
The waterproofness of stretch film comes from the characteristics of its material. Polyethylene itself is a material with strong water resistance, which can prevent moisture from penetrating into the interior of the package. Compared with traditional paper or textile packaging materials, stretch film has a more significant protective effect against moisture. Even in a humid environment, stretch film can effectively prevent moisture from penetrating into the product through the film layer, thereby reducing damage caused by moisture. Especially for some electronic products or precision instruments, the intrusion of moisture may cause short circuits or failures, and the use of stretch film can greatly reduce this risk.
Stretch film is not a material that is completely impermeable to moisture. Its effect in moisture and water resistance is affected by factors such as its thickness and sealing. If the seal of the stretch film is not complete, or there are defects in the film layer itself, it is still possible for moisture to enter the interior of the package through these weak points. Therefore, when using stretch film, it is necessary to ensure that it is intact and reasonably select the appropriate film thickness. For items that are stored or transported for a long time, it may be necessary to use multi-layer packaging, or choose a stretch film specially designed for waterproofing to further enhance the moisture and water resistance effect.
When using stretch film, it is also necessary to pay attention to the impact of environmental factors on the performance of the film. Temperature changes may cause changes in the physical properties of stretch film. Especially in extreme high or low temperature environments, stretch film may expand or shrink, which may affect its moisture-proof effect. Therefore, when choosing stretch film, in addition to considering its moisture-proof function, it is also necessary to determine the appropriate film material based on specific transportation and storage conditions.
